What locations do you serve?
I currently offer services in the Greater Seattle area of Washington. I am also available to travel for births in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin, Texas. These sessions must be booked and paid in full by 30 weeks of pregnancy.
Contact me for arrangements.
What other ways do you support during a birth?
As a member of your birth team, I want to make sure you are as comfortable as possible in this space. I consider myself a doulatog (doula and photographer). In the past, that has meant as much as providing additional physical support during labor (during my first birth I held a leg open with one hand and the camera with the other and caught baby's entrance), to playing my favorite birthing playlist (let me know if you'd like a personal playlist created prior to your birth).
How many edited images come with my package?
The number of final photos varies by session and type. I aim to deliver around 30+ edited photos, but will typically include more if there are many good photos to choose form.
Do I own the copyrights to my images
No. I own the copyright to all images and give clients permission to use the photos for personal use.
I do ask that when opportunities allow, like posting on social media or on your personal website, that you credit the photos to Mary Jean Media or by tagging my account.
Do you photograph home births, birth-center births and hospital births?
Yes, all of the above. If you are planning a birth at a hospital, please ensure they allow photography during delivery. Since COVID, some hospitals have instated a restriction on visitors in the room (example, 2 guests in the room). SOME hospitals make exceptions for certified doulas. I am NOT, but if you have a doula and one other identified person, I MAY be able to join. It's important to consider this as early as possible, so that you're not torn between having me or your loved one in the space.
How do I get my images?
Photos will be delivered through a personalized digital gallery sent directly to your email for you to download images. Please allow 2-4 weeks for photo delivery, though return time varies by session type. Expedited return is available upon request.
Will my photos be posted online and on your social media?
All clients are given the option whether or not to share their images. If I do not have your consent to share, your photos will be hosted in a private digital album that only you have the PIN to access. If you have specific concerns (for example, a birth client is only uncomfortable with crowning shots being shared publicly) we can discuss this in our initial consultation, and I'll ensure your wishes are honored.
